Praise for Chuck's presentations-

I first met Chuck at the Children’s Book Festival in Hattiesburg, MS around 1990. I have followed his career through the years, with interest, because of his Mississippi connection and my life as a children’s librarian. He has been an Artist in Residence at my school.

Chuck and I met about 20 years ago at the Children’s Book Festival in Hattiesburg, MS. He has presented there many times and I never tire of his presentations because he makes each one fresh. I was fortunate to bring Chuck to Meridian in 2009 to do a workshop for my middle school students. It was a great success!

Chuck was invited to participate in our Summer Reading Program as an artist/illustrator at our library and six of our branches. He was most effective in introducing the children to artistic discipline. He had a good rapport with the students and encouraged them to pursue their creative talents. He explained through examples of his work how to express ideas and feelings. The children responded well to his instruction.

Over the years, I've done many types of presentations about illustrating children's books. From first grade all the way up to university book festivals, I've showed how illustration is important to the visual storytelling nature of the picture book.

Below are several links with grade appropriate catagories of presentations. Maybe there is a presentation that will be just right for your event. If you have a special event theme, I would be more than happy to design a presentation around your special topic.
