Praise for Chuck's presentations- Chuck was a wonderful visiting author/illustrator. The students thoroughly enjoyed his SKYPE visit to view his studio before the in-person visit. What a treat!
Chuck is able to break down the process and reach each student at his level in order for the student to better understand and perform. Thus he is an effective teacher. He is also motivating. He gives honest praise and positive reinforcement. I sincerely believe that Chuck will do an outstanding job in whatever he is called to do and with whomever he works.
I've known Chuck about five years. He has been a guest speaker at our school's annual Young Author's Day event for three or four consecutive years. Obviously, I was happy with his presentation and have invited him back several times.
Chuck came as a visiting author to our school and the children were amazed. They couldn't believe that he wrote and illustrated his books. He did a great job interacting with the students.
I first met Chuck at the Children’s Book Festival in Hattiesburg, MS around 1990. I have followed his career through the years, with interest, because of his Mississippi connection and my life as a children’s librarian. He has been an Artist in Residence at my school.

Over the years, I've done many types of presentations about illustrating children's books. From first grade all the way up to university book festivals, I've showed how illustration is important to the visual storytelling nature of the picture book. Below are several links with grade appropriate catagories of presentations. Maybe there is a presentation that will be just right for your event. If you have a special event theme, I would be more than happy to design a presentation around your special topic.
